This is a strange sensation. I’m sure all writers feel this the first time they hear their book produced as an audio book. The sentences seem so unfamiliar when spoken by a new voice. But it’s exciting.
Thanks to Ulverscroft UK, my first book – Julia’s Story – is now available as an audio book
I think the narration is fantastic.
Audio books, once intended for the visually impaired, have taken on a new life for those book lovers multi-tasking in a busy world. Just think of the things you can do while you listen to an audio book – exercising, cooking, housework, gardening – all sorts of things that leave you free to listen and engage with a book.
Julia’s Story begins in 1942 when she is 18 years old and living in Queensland. Vast number of US Army personnel have arrived in Australia. And so begins the story of Julia, her meeting with US Army doctor Philippe Duval and so begins the story of her family, her brothers Richard and William.
In Price to Pay (released 2024), we reach the conclusion of Julia’s great love story.
And in November 2025, the as yet untitled 5th Belleville novel will mark the end of the story for the Belleville family.
Did I imagine these characters would see me write seven books in total about their lives? Isn’t that the magic of fiction! Creating lives that seem so real you can’t walk away from them.
Whatever I write beyond these books, the Belleville books will always have a special place in my heart.
Enjoy your reading …. and listening.
