So obsessed with writing, I forget to tell readers what’s coming plus a big reveal

I apologise. How can it have been so long since I wrote something on this blog? It’s ridiculous I’ve been so slack. Social media would die a quick death if everyone was like me. But I have been writing the fourth Belleville book and much more besides.

At last count I’ve topped 300,000 words – if you consider my average book would be 110,000 words, give or take, you can guess I’ve got the makings of at least three books, if not more.

TO RECAP

My Belleville series currently consists of:

KEY CHARACTERS YOU ALREADY KNOW

Richard Belleville (married to Kate, previously Catherine Cavendish), brother William Belleville (married to Alice, James Fitzroy’s sister), sister Julia Belleville (married to Dr Philippe Duval) – mother of Pippa and John Fitzroy (from first husband James).

Next generation: Paul and Anthony Belleville (father Richard, mother Catherine); Susan Belleville (father Richard, mother Kate, formerly Lester); Marianne Belleville (mother Alice, father William); Pippa Duval – born out of wedlock (mother Julia; father Philippe), John Fitzroy (mother Julia, father James).

Others: Karen Clarke, father David Clarke; Pippa’s school friends Anita Clarke, Lucy Dixon, Nancy Lester and her brother Tim Lester; Dr Robert Clarke (Anita’s father, works with Philippe)

There are new characters to meet too as I continue to tell the story of the lives of my main characters.

THE BIG REVEAL. (drum roll!)

There are two books coming this year – books set in the same time period in the lives of the Belleville family, beginning in 1968 when the next generation are young adults.

The two books are what I call PARALLEL books – there has always been one outlier in the Belleville family, Julia’s husband, Philippe Duval. And his story gets BIG. Too big to be incorporated into a fourth Belleville novel.

So look out for:

Book 4 of the Belleville series:

Heirs and Successors (working title); and

The first in the DUVAL series:

First Born Son (working title) to be followed by

Price to Pay (working title)
